Welcome the iPhone App Jam Wiki

Sign up on the projects page for the next iPhone App Jam.

What?

The iPhone App Jam is an all night hackfest where we see what can be done in 12+ sleepless hours of designing and coding. We will provide the space, internet and refreshments. You just bring your laptop, your ideas, and your enthusiasm. We demo our creations the next morning and see what everyone came up with.

When?

The first iPhone App Jam will be held during iPhoneDevCamp Houston the night of January 30, 2010 in Houston, TX.

Who?

Anyone is invited to participate. You don't even need to be a developer. Before the event starts, we all create pages on this wiki for the project we want to work on. If you would like someone to work with you, make that clear on your page, and others can sign up to join you. You may also create a page for yourself stating your interest in working with someone on their project.

Why?

  • Because building iPhone apps is fun!
  • To work with and around other cool people building apps.
  • To force yourself to prototype that app idea you've been putting off.
  • To see what you can do in one night of furious coding.

How?

Use whatever you like. All tools, libraries, game engines, etc. are fair game. If you have a bunch of library code laying around, feel free to use that as well. The organizers will put some useful code and project templates here to help you get started. All you need is your laptop (a Mac of course).

Rules

The only real rule is that the app you create must be built from scratch that night. Part of the fun is learning new things and seeing what you can come up with in the allotted time. If you have an idea for an app that you haven't had the time to build, this is the perfect opportunity.
